A barcode, is an optical, representation of data. The data usually describes something about the object that carries the barcode. They can represent data by varying the width and spacing of parallel lines. These are referred as linear or one-dimensional (1D).
Two-dimensional (2D) barcodes can use rectangles, dots, hexagons or other geometric patterns in two dimensions. Three-dimensional (3D) barcodes are any linear 1D or 2D that are directly embossed on the surface material. Barcodes can be scanned by special optical scanners, called barcode readers, and mobile devices with cameras like PDAs and Smartphones.
Kalipso can read any Barcode type supported by the device. It can also generate barcodes for printing in Reports.
Currently supported types for printing are: Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Interleaved 2 of 5, Rational Codabar, PDF 427, Data Matrix, QR Code, EAN13.
